K'gari (Fraser Island) east coast fishing spots
More than 100 km of surf beach on the world's largest sand island, broken by the headlands of Waddy Point and Indian Head. Anglers read the gutters for whiting, bream, dart and flathead and, in the August-October run, tailor; the headlands add trevally, snapper and sweetlip. Access is 4WD with permits, dingoes roam, and a fin fish closure applies near Waddy Point and Indian Head each August and September.
