Rottnest Island (Wadjemup) fishing spots
Wadjemup / Rottnest Island, a short ferry ride off Fremantle, has clear, sheltered bays on the north side for herring, squid and whiting, and wilder reef at the west end where salmon, tailor and kingfish turn up. Most spots are a bike ride from Thomson Bay. Five sanctuary zones and island-wide rules (no spearfishing close in, no shellfish collecting) apply, so plan around them.
